Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

1. General Information

Journal of Molecular Oral Biology and Dental Sciences (JMOBDS) welcomes submissions in all areas of dental science. Manuscripts may be written in Indonesian or English and must be original, unpublished, and not under review elsewhere.
We accept research articles, review articles, and case reportsNo submission or processing fees are charged.

All submissions undergo an initial editorial screening. Manuscripts considered suitable will be evaluated through a double-blind peer-review process by at least two independent experts. Final decisions are made by the editorial team based on reviewer recommendations. Authors may be requested to revise their manuscripts to meet publication standards.

Upon publication, authors retain copyright and grant JIDA the right of first publication under a Creative Commons Attribution License, allowing others to share the work with proper acknowledgment.

2. Submission Process

Manuscripts must be submitted electronically through the journal’s Online Journal System (OJS). Authors are required to register as an author to begin the submission process.

3. Manuscript Structure

Prepare your manuscript in the following order:

  1. Title

  2. Title Page

  3. Abstract & Keywords

  4. Main Text

  5. Acknowledgement

  6. Conflict of Interest

  7. References

  8. Tables

  9. Figures

  10. Figure Legends

Title

Provide a clear, concise title (maximum 15 words).

Title Page

Include:

  • Full names and institutional affiliations of all authors

  • Contact details for the corresponding author (marked with an asterisk)

Abstract & Keywords

  • Abstract: maximum 300 words

  • Keywords: five, listed in alphabetical order

Acknowledgement

Acknowledge individuals or institutions that made significant intellectual contributions.

Conflict of Interest

Disclose any relevant financial relationships or state that no conflicts exist. Include a “Conflict of Interest” statement at the end of the manuscript.

Tables

  • Each table on a separate page

  • Number sequentially

  • Provide concise titles

  • Avoid vertical/horizontal lines

  • Use footnotes for explanations

  • Maximum of six tables/figures combined

Figures

  • Submit high-quality drawings or photographs

  • Number sequentially

  • Credit previously published material and attach permission from the copyright holder

Units of Measurement

  • Use metric or SI units

  • Temperature in °C

  • Use generic drug names; include brand name and manufacturer (city, country) on first mention if applicable

 

4. Manuscript Requirements

Review Articles

Review Articles are intended for authors with strong expertise or significant contributions in the topic being discussed. A brief description of the author’s relevant work or experience should accompany the submission.

  • Word limit: up to 6,000 words (excluding abstract, references, tables, figures, and legends)

  • References: maximum 100

  • Figures/Tables: up to 6 in total

  • Abstract: unstructured, 300 words, clearly summarizing the main content and key methods

Review Articles should provide a comprehensive, insightful overview of current knowledge and emerging trends in the field.


Research Articles

Research Articles present original findings and must be prepared according to scientific reporting standards.

  • Word limit: up to 5,000 words (excluding abstract, references, tables, figures, and legends)

  • References: maximum 70

  • Figures/Tables: up to 6 in total

  • Abstract: structured, 300 words, including: Introduction, Objectives, Methods, Results, Conclusion

Research Articles should clearly present the study’s rationale, methodology, findings, and scientific significance.


Case Reports

Case Reports highlight unique, rare, or particularly challenging clinical cases that offer valuable learning points for practitioners. Priority is given to cases with clear diagnostic, therapeutic, or educational relevance.

  • Word limit: up to 4,000 words (excluding abstract and references)

  • References: maximum 50

  • Abstract: structured, 300 words, including: Introduction, Case Report, Conclusion

  • Figures/Tables: allowed as needed within reasonable limits

Case Reports should emphasize clinical insights, decision-making processes, and lessons that may guide dental practitioners.


REFERENCES 

  1. References should consist of both primary and supplementary sources. At least 80% of primary references must be drawn from reputable journals published within the last 10 years, while supplementary references, also from the past decade, may constitute up to 20% of the total. Furthermore, a minimum of 80% of all references should be from international sources, with no more than 20% originating from local sources.
  2. References must be formatted using Vancouver style with superscript numbering. Consecutive references should be indicated by a hyphen (e.g., 1–3) without further explanation. Each citation number is placed at the end of the sentence, following the period. Use of reference management software such as Mendeley® or Zotero is recommended.
  3. The total number of references should exceed 20.
  4. Journal references must include a DOI when available, formatted as a clickable link (e.g., https://doi.org/10.1128/JCM.02303-07)
  5. Use Times New Roman, font size 10 pt for the main manuscript text.
