The Journal of Indonesian Oral Medicine Society (JIOMS) is a peer-reviewed scientific journal published three times a year by the Indonesian Dental Board Association (Persatuan Dokter Gigi Indonesia) through its Indonesian Oral Medicine Association (Ikatan Specialist Penyakit Mulut Indonesia, or ISPMI). JIOMS is intended to provide oral medicine clinicians in Indonesia with peer-reviewed articles and the latest information in the field. Publications include high-quality original scientific clinical papers, diagnostic challenge case reports, updated invited literature reviews, book reviews, and letters to the editors in subjects relating to clinical practices and best practices in oral medicine, oral pathology, oral radiology, and clinical research in these areas. JIOMS welcomes authors who want to publish research articles and contribute to the scientific development in the oral medicine field. At least two suitably qualified referees will assess all submitted manuscripts within the journal's scope. A brief history of the journal. The official publication of ISPMI, then IPOMI (Ikatan Peminat Oral Medicine), dates back to 1982. The Ikatan Peminat Oral Medicine Magazine pioneered the publication long before any other clinical scientific publication existed, especially in clinical dentistry in Indonesia. At that time, the organization only had a few members, and everyone participated in the publication to donate and had the issues in return for free. In the 1990s, alongside the name change for the Oral Medicine Society, the publication was reduced to more of an Oral Medicine Congress Report until it ceased to be published in the early 2000s. Since the last ISPMI Congress, before the COVID-19 pandemic, some efforts have been made to publish a form of official scientific report of its members. It was not until the XII ISPMI Congress in Bali that some members gathered and successfully collected some case reports for publication. The Journal of Indonesian Oral Medicine Society (JIOMS), originally published on the ISPMI website, is now being managed by PDGI OJS. JIOMS is, in a way, reviving society's scientific atmosphere and togetherness.
